The school group Scholen aan Zee (“Schools by the Sea“) provides secondary-level education in five schools and two sports halls in the northern tip of the province of North-Holland. Scholen aan Zee has around 3000 students and some 300 employees.

For the period March to July 2017 they were looking for a temporary head of the facilities department. The head of the facilities department is responsible for all facilities of Scholen aan Zee, such as buildings management and maintenance, cleaning services, catering and contract management. The total surface area of the buildings is approx. 36,000m2, and the facilities department team comprises around 27 FTE.

Besides the regular work, the focus during this period was on revising the buildings’ long-term maintenance plans, issuing future-oriented accommodation advice, reviewing the facilities department and flagging improvements.  In addition, various private tender procedures were carried out in this period, resulting in significant cost savings.
