The city hall building in The Hague had to cope with more users than before. The reason for this was the broad introduction of flexiworking and desk sharing. This non-traditional way of working resulted in an increased demand for catering and formal and informal consultation places. Accordingly, the municipality wanted to create a more contemporary restaurant, with longer opening hours, an attractive and healthy product offering, and more space for meeting. The municipality of The Hague asked Hospitality Group to develop the new catering concept and design the new work & lunch area. Design Anders created the interior design.
The existing restaurant was only open for lunch and sparsely used. The new catering concept is more in line with the different times during the day that people want to eat or drink something. The means from breakfast until happy hour at the end of the day, and evenings meals if so desired. Important elements of the concept are a ´market place´ and a coffee bar. The fresh and healthy food offering is prepared in sight of the guests.
The atmosphere in the area is informal, homely and relaxed. The work area is very suitable for working together with colleagues or guests. The seats are open and semi-open with a variety of sitting styles and types of furnitures. By now the work & lunch area has become the favorite meeting place in the building. An inviting place, where employees want to go and work, with an atmosphere that is both energetic and calm.
